Lost Gardens of Heligan - 2015 Visit – Part 1
Part of the reason for the delay since my last batch of entries is that I have been lucky enough to have had a bit of a holiday. And just as some of that was spent in Cornwall, so part of the Cornish bit also had to include a visit to Heligan.
As time was against me, I didn’t get as far down the gardens as the West Lawn to see the poppies, I’m afraid. However, I did spot a few items growing in the open vegetable beds which should be very familiar to Victorian Kitchen Garden fans.
First, a row of ‘Ne Plus Ultra’ peas being kept for seed (none for sale in the shop, though), and two of Harry’s ‘fussy pieces’, ‘Scorzonera’ and ‘Salsify’, side by side.
