This isn't the way I'd indended to break my (long) blog silence but, given the date, it's probably appropriate.
30 years ago today, at 8pm on 31st October 1991, the first episode of The Victorian Flower Garden was broadcast. The last of the three The Victorian Kitchen Garden series, it covered the importance of flowers and their uses in the Victorian period.
From cut-flowers and arrangements in the big house, through the show-house for visitors to the garden, to funerary wreaths and Wedding bouquets. All (floral) life is there.
