Monday 5th February 2018 is Ruth Mott Day, ‘Auntie Ruth’ would have been 101 this year. I can’t believe that a year has passed since we were celebrating her centenary with a couple of recipes from the ‘Ruth Mott’s Favourite Recipes’ book.
And guess what? We’ll be doing the same again, though work will probably mean it happens on Sunday 4th, as that’s the nearest that the whole family will be able to sit down together for a meal. Like last year, dessert will definitely be Ruth’s Baked Lemon Pudding (page 139). Also like last year, I’m not sure, yet, what the main course will be.
However, we will be washing it all down with a glass or two of ‘Auntie Ruth’s Winter Warmer’, courtesy of West Berkshire Brewery (@westberksbrew), who have been as good as their word, when they promised they would mark Ruth’s Centenary by brewing some as soon as the new brewery was up and running. Nice one guys.
Happy ‘Ruth Mott Day’ everyone!
